Greek Week
Class 3 got back into the swing of school by taking part in 'Greek Week'. We spent a day in each of the three main powerhouses of the Ancient Greek world: Athens, Corinth and Sparta.
In Athens we learnt about Athena and Poseidon, sampled Athena's gift of olives and olive oil (and feta and halloumi), looked at Athena's gift of the first alphabet with vowels and finished by researching famous Greek scientists and mathematicians.

In Corinth we looked at Corinthian trade and money; city building; and then Corinthian trade - sending roving explorers off to find out facts about India, Mesopotamia, Persia and others
In Sparta, we spent the morning testing our mettle to see who was the best Spartan warrior through activities such as javelin and the hoplite run (running in full battle armour). In the afternoon we looked at war tactics, ideas of the Underworld and glory and armour.
